In recent days, the topic of the "lung xidiu" dish has become a hot topic, with many people discussing it, as a video appearing on social media allegedly showed the owner of a restaurant in Hanoi boasting a 40m long, 5.8kg "lung xidiu" dish.
Amid the debate surrounding the authenticity of this "lung xidiu" dish, a video from March 2024 by MC Anh Tho has resurfaced online.
In the video, Anh Tho reveals that she spent about 1.7 million VND to buy a mixed offal tray at a famous restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City. The lung xidiu portion alone cost about 1.4 million VND, advertised as the "best in the restaurant."
However, contrary to her expectations, the female MC shares that her first experience with this "luxurious" dish was a nightmare.
"The lung xidiu is extremely tough, it's hard to bite through, and chewing it never seems to end, completely different from the enticing videos online," Anh Tho shares in the clip.
She explains that she had to ask the staff to boil the lung again in the hopes of softening it, but after boiling it, the lung became even tougher.
Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri about the attention-grabbing clip, Anh Tho reveals that as someone from Quang Ngai - a place known for various offal dishes - she has a special fondness for this cuisine and was curious about the lung xidiu after watching many promotional videos on social media.
The female MC carefully chose to purchase from one of the most reputable restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, hoping for a worthwhile experience at that price.
"I expected this to be a wonderful experience because I really enjoy eating offal. But when I tasted it, it felt like chewing a thick piece of rubber, very tiring for the mouth. I don't know if it's due to the cooking method or the quality of the product, but it's certainly not as delicious as I imagined," the female MC expresses.
After the video was posted, instead of receiving constructive feedback, the restaurant selling lung xidiu claimed that she... didn't know how to eat. This made Anh Tho quite upset: "I don't take advertising money, I eat and share my real experience. Yet I am criticized for being ignorant and even attacked by some viewers."
Disappointed not only in the quality of the dish, Anh Tho later researched more about the structure of lung xidiu and became concerned about the health implications.
She says, "I learned that this is an abnormally developed part of a pig's lungs. As someone who eats cooked and boiled foods like me, the thick and crunchy texture of the lung made me uneasy."
MC Anh Tho also bluntly states, "I will never eat lung xidiu again. For that price, I would choose to eat traditional offal because it's tastier, cleaner, and more worth the money."
