Vietnam's Hat Juggling act wins silver at World Circus Festival

NSND Tong Toan Thang - Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation - stated that the performance Four Female Hat Jugglers of the Vietnam Circus Federation has just won the silver medal at the 8th "IDOL" World Circus Festival in 2024.

This is the first time that Vietnam has won a medal at the World Circus Festival.

The act was performed by artists Chu Hong Thuy, Pham Thi Huong, Luu Thi Huong, and Lo Ngoc Thuy of the Vietnam Circus Federation.

Set to the music of Hello Vietnam, the performers executed juggling, rotating, and hanging maneuvers, which were well received by the audience. The ropes were fixed to props shaped like large hats, creating a visually stunning effect.

With creativity inspired by the traditional Vietnamese conical hat, director, NSND Tong Toan Thang designed the props to resemble the conical hat, allowing the 4 female performers to juggle high up without safety ropes, requiring precise technique.

The act captivated the audience, keeping them engaged and on edge as they followed each movement of the performers.

"The act Four Female Hat Jugglers of Vietnam has been highly praised by international friends for its difficult maneuvers, delicate techniques, requiring constant transformation by the performers, as well as the group juggling performed by up to 4 females making it even more challenging.

Especially, the performers executing juggling maneuvers at a height without the need for safety ropes. We meticulously choreographed the act to highlight Vietnamese culture as well as the incorporation of new elements such as violin ensembles in the performance," NSND Tong Toan Thang said.

The Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation shared that this is also the first time Vietnam has been invited to participate as a member of the Jury of this Festival.

Accordingly, the Organizing Committee of the 8th "IDOL" World Circus Festival carefully selected the most outstanding acts from 24 performances from 17 countries with famous circus arts such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Guatemala, Peru, the Philippines, China, Bulgaria, Mongolia, Vietnam, North Korea, Poland, the United States, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany...
