Ms. Noriko Ohara (born in 1935) grew up in Tokyo, Japan. She began her career as a child actress in children's programs on NHK (Japan) and in theater plays.
While still in school, Ms. Noriko Ohara had a great passion for the arts. She was actively involved in a drama club at her school. In addition to stage performances, she also dubbed English and French films for import.
In 1973, she voiced the role of Nobita's mother in the long-running series Doraemon. After that, she voiced Nobita in over 60 episodes of Doraemon from 1979 to 2005.
Another major role she voiced was the character Conan in Future Boy Conan (1977), the debut series of the renowned director Hayao Miyazaki.
Voicing the character Nobita made Noriko Ohara beloved by many Japanese audiences. Doraemon is a familiar animated series to young audiences in Japan and many other countries, including Vietnam.
The veteran star once shared about her voice acting work in 2017: "Voice acting for Doraemon made me feel like an athlete, I had to enhance my endurance."
With her contributions in the industry, Ms. Noriko Ohara won many awards. Later in life, she continued to work diligently. Her most recent work was in the romantic drama series Hide from the Rain (2023).
Noriko Ohara has a son named Atsuo Tobe. He continues his mother's animation legacy as an artist and animation director. He has worked on series such as Gundam, Slayers, Patlabor, Tenchi Muyo, Lupin III, Love Hina, and Doraemon.
