Thuy Vinh was born in 1977 into a family with a strong sports tradition. Her father was a former player for the Song Lam Nghe An team, her younger sister Thuy Hien is a wushu athlete, while Thuy Vinh herself excelled in shuttlecock kicking. She has won numerous SEA Games medals and international awards.
In the early 2000s, Thuy Vinh ventured into modeling and became a sought-after personality on the catwalk. After a few years, she shifted to the music business, opening a company with singer Thanh Thao. In 2011, Thuy Vinh and Thanh Thao had a dispute over money and ownership of the company. To this day, after 13 years, the legal battle between Thuy Vinh and Thanh Thao remains unresolved.
Recently, the legal dispute between Thanh Thao and Thuy Vinh has garnered attention again as Thanh Thao announced her return to Vietnam to prepare for the court hearing in the case against Thuy Vinh. Regarding this, Thuy Vinh shared with a reporter from Dan Tri that she also hopes the matter will be resolved conclusively after 13 years of turmoil.
Over the years, Thuy Vinh's life has continued to receive attention from the public. After the controversy in 2011, Thuy Vinh almost disappeared from the Vietnamese entertainment scene. In 2012, the former athlete unexpectedly got married to a Singaporean husband. The marriage sparked much discussion, but Thuy Vinh remained silent. In 2019, Thuy Vinh publicly announced her divorce and decided to become a single mother, taking care of her son on her own.
Last June, Thuy Vinh and her sister Thuy Hien attended the launch of singer Tung Duong's new product in Ho Chi Minh City. She also attended the wedding of actress Midu on June 29. These were rare occasions where Thuy Vinh appeared in the media after a long period of staying out of the spotlight.
Speaking to a Dan Tri reporter, Thuy Vinh said that when she publicly participates in showbiz events, she is not afraid of people discussing her past. However, she emphasized that she has no intention of returning to the entertainment industry but only supporting close friends and attending some events with acquaintances.
"The truth will always be the truth. My past or anyone else's on this earth has both right and wrong. The important thing is whether each person can see their own right to maintain and enhance, see their own mistakes to correct themselves or not. Cultivating is about finding one's own faults and wanting to overcome difficulties, the only way is to go through it," the former model shared openly.
Thuy Vinh mentioned that for many years she has devoted time to taking care of her son, developing her food business. After the ups and downs of the past, Thuy Vinh has learned to live slowly, balance her mind and spirit. She also follows a vegetarian diet, practices Buddhism, and meditation.
The former athlete affirmed that the past dispute was the most valuable and costly business lesson she has ever experienced. Currently, she continues to strive every day to settle debts after her previous company went bankrupt.
"Although I haven't done well yet, I am doing the best I can within my abilities. I believe in my efforts. One day soon, I will complete my work well to no longer have financial difficulties," Thuy Vinh told Dan Tri.
Thuy Vinh also mentioned that correcting past "mistakes" is not easy for her, but she believes she can do it. "I have family, loved ones, and friends who always support and encourage me, giving me more strength to keep trying. I am grateful for that," she revealed.
Regarding her private emotional life, Thuy Vinh declined to share with the media. She said "everything depends on fate" and she still travels frequently between Vietnam and Singapore to allow her son to visit his father. Occasionally, Thuy Vinh's ex-husband also returns to the country to visit their son.
