Fearing falling behind compared to young people

After divorcing Hong Dao, artist Quang Minh spent a lot of time working in the arts in Vietnam. Recently, he attracted attention when he appeared in the movie "Getting Rich with the Ghost" (which has grossed over 100 billion VND), starring alongside Hoai Linh, Le Giang, Tuan Tran...

According to Quang Minh, this is the first time he played a social antagonist role. However, his role was cut in many action segments compared to the initial plan. Although he felt a little disappointed, he was comforted by the clever handling of director Trung Lun.

The artist born in 1959 shared: "Before that, I acted in 'The Price of Happiness', I was very sad because my role was cut quite a bit. After watching the film, I was disappointed and left. This time, I appeared in the film 'Getting Rich with the Ghost', although it was a supporting role, I felt that the character had many highlights, making an impression on the audience."

Although he has participated in many film projects, Quang Minh mainly takes on supporting roles with few lines. Regarding this, the male artist believes that luck is needed in the art industry. In the past 2 years, he has been invited to play leading roles, but due to health conditions, he could not accept.

"I think at my age, it's fortunate to still be cared for by producers and directors. If Trấn Thành, Trường Giang are referred to as 'uncle', I don't know which generation I belong to," he added.

Quang Minh admitted to feeling a bit lost when returning to Vietnam to act in films. The male artist is confident in his acting skills, but he fears that his thinking may be outdated compared to young people.

The artist shared that he often buys tickets to watch Vietnamese films because he wants to learn and integrate into the film industry. Regardless of whether the film is praised or criticized, he watches to gain experience. Films by Trấn Thành, Lý Hải are no exception.

"I've only recently realized that I'm falling behind in Vietnam. I also try to play TikTok, make short videos to keep up with trends. Currently, I have to learn how to blend in with the younger generation," he said.

At the age of 64, artist Quang Minh said that he acts in films not for money but for passion. The artist said that he has passed the stage of struggling to make a living.

"For me, health is above all, not money. I don't waste, spend thoughtlessly. In real life, I'm very simple. Many friends wonder why foreign artists like us don't dress up. I have invested a lot in the on-screen image, so I want to be simple and comfortable outside," he shared.

"I'm happy for Hong Dao's success"

5 years after stepping out of the marriage with Hong Dao, Quang Minh chose a single life. He revealed that he still maintains a good relationship with his ex-wife and keeps an eye on each other's activities.

Quang Minh had a lot of praise for Hong Dao's performance in the movie "Mai" (directed by Trấn Thành). In his eyes, his ex-wife is a professional and serious worker.

"Seeing Hong Dao in successful roles, I also crave such a role. Fortunately, luck has not smiled on me and Vietnam now has many talented actors," he said.

Quang Minh revealed that his two daughters are independent, both in actions and thoughts. The parents "go their own way," but the children do not interfere in adult matters. He and his two children still keep in touch, but rarely see each other due to geographical distance.

The male artist shared: "When I have the opportunity to go to California (USA), then we meet, if not, we just text. My child and I mainly inquire about each other's health or wish each other a happy birthday. Because of the geographical distance, the two of us are more distant than before. Sometimes, I feel a little sad."

Quang Minh said he is easily moved. Since he was young, he often sheds tears when he sees old people living alone, struggling to earn a living.

"Therefore, from before until now, I never go to restaurants to eat alone. Because I'm afraid that others will think I'm lonely," the male artist confided.

At the age of 64, Quang Minh takes good care of his appearance, skin quite meticulously. In the evening, he goes through all steps of skincare, from makeup removal, face washing, using serum, moisturizing...

The male artist candidly stated: "I am a man but I am quite meticulous about skin issues, so people are rumored about my gender. Apart from maintaining my figure, I am persistent in sports, especially swimming. Every day I spend 45 minutes to work out, 20 minutes to swim."

"I maintain a positive spirit, not burdened with too many thoughts. Seeing many colleagues of my generation retiring, falling ill, I worry about myself, the latest being Tan Beo getting sick. Now what more can I think about, peace is still above all."
