Obsessed with being criticized for singing poorly for 10 years

One of the outstanding "talents" and winners of Brothers overcoming a thousand challenges, Cuong Seven confided: "Nowadays, I am confident enough to call myself a singer, but in the past, I was often called a 'jack of all trades', a dancer...

However, I didn't give up. I just think that this year I am lucky to have many opportunities in music, received recognition from the audience. But to go further and be more successful, I need to try harder."

During the early days of singing, Cuong Seven was controversial for his limited live singing skills, being criticized for using choreography to cover up his singing voice. At times, he was even "booed" by the audience whenever he appeared on stage.

Recalling that period, the singer admitted that his performance mishaps had caused him to lose favor in the eyes of the audience. Because of leaving a bad impression, for over 10 years, he has always had to endure the skeptical and suspicious eyes of the public.

Cuong Seven added: "I was once sad, under pressure because I didn't understand why people had such extreme opinions about me. But looking back, everything needs time to prove. And changing people's opinions about me is extremely difficult."

Cuong Seven shared that he had to spend over 10 years of effort to overcome the public's prejudice against him. After Brothers overcoming a thousand challenges, he hopes to change people's bad impressions of him.

The male singer confessed: "Now looking back, I appreciate those mishaps. If I hadn't had those performance mishaps, I wouldn't have realized my abilities and wouldn't have gone through the process of trying to change myself."

Cuong Seven stated that he now knows his strengths and what to focus on when on stage. In the past, he started as a dancer so when he switched to singing, he focused only on dancing. Now, the husband of Vu Ngoc Anh is aware that he needs to focus on singing first, with dancing as a supporting part.

After Brothers overcoming a thousand challenges, Cuong Seven said that what he felt he received the most was recognition from colleagues, friends. The trust from his colleagues helped him get rid of his previous self-doubt.

Cuong Seven confessed: "In the past, when meeting other artists, I was quite timid and hesitant to connect with people. Thanks to the program, I am confident in communicating and making friends with many people. Through these interactions, people have a better understanding of Cuong Seven and recognize my abilities."

Stepping out of Brothers overcoming a thousand challenges with the position of the all-around clan leader, Cuong Seven maintains his momentum by releasing an EP (extended play) Gliding. This is an important project of his consisting of 5 songs, with the theme song titled Gliding on a motorcycle featuring rapper Blacka.

Cuong Seven said that although he has been in showbiz for over 10 years, the current time is just the beginning for him. The singer born in 1989 believes that all success must be earned through a long journey of effort.

"Being a clan leader is not something that makes me feel pressured or worried. When I joined Brothers overcoming a thousand challenges, I didn't focus on winning awards. What I care about most is being able to bring many quality products," the male singer shared.

Married to a beautiful wife, not in a hurry to have children

Cuong Seven - Vu Ngoc Anh got married in July 2023. After getting married, the couple mainly devoted their time to work, actively participating in entertainment activities. If Cuong Seven won at the Brothers overcoming a thousand challenges show, Vu Ngoc Anh also recently made her mark in Miss Congeniality 2024.

Speaking to a Dan Tri reporter, Cuong Seven said that he and his wife are not pressured to have children after getting married. Both families understand each other's work, so they do not pressurize each other.

"My wife and I have agreed to dedicate this year and next to work, supporting each other as much as possible. Both I and Ngoc Anh have aspirations in the arts. When we achieve our work goals, we will then comfortably think about children," the male singer said.

Although he loves children, Cuong Seven is not yet ready to take on the role of a "diaper dad." For him, being a parent is not easy, so having children must be done in the most comfortable state.
