In the early afternoon of December 20, 2024, Duong Trach Ky got into another car arranged by the film crew to go to the Thai-Lao border. A day later, the male model sent a message to friends, seeking help.
Friends and relatives of Duong Trach Ky said they lost contact with him since December 21, 2024. Ky's parents and his friends reported the incident to the police.
On December 29, 2024, Duong Trach Ky reportedly video-called his mother and said he was safe. In the video, Duong Trach Ky wore black clothes and sat on a chair, with his hands on the table.
However, his relatives noticed scars on the corners of his eyes and his unstable mental state.
Until now, the whereabouts of Duong Trach Ky remain unknown. According to his girlfriend, he texted her and revealed that he was being forced to deceive others, or else he would be punished. This message was sent on January 1.
Duong Trach Ky messaged his girlfriend: "I just wanted to act in movies, never thought I would be deceived into coming here. I was also asked to deceive others. If not, I will be punished. That's the truth, very scary."
According to Ky's father, before going to Thailand, the male model and actor told him that he was paid 8,000 NDT (nearly 28 million dong) for 10 days of work.
Ky's father advised his son to consider carefully as he would be working far from home. However, Duong Trach Ky said he was not afraid of difficulties if given the opportunity to act in a film.
