Her mental and physical health have stabilized. Initially, when she discovered the illness, she was shocked and wanted to keep it a secret, but after the surgery, she changed her mind.
"I want to share this image to create motivation for all women fighting breast cancer. I want to send them empathy, share hopes that good things will come. We will be strong, overcome and win this disease," Hong Nhung shared.
The singer appears strong and optimistic. She hopes that the audience will view this matter in a normal way, not overly negatively.
Hong Nhung discovered her cancer at the end of 2024 while performing the live concert "Hong Nhung sings about Hanoi." At that time, she was on medication, trying to maintain her work to not affect the project and her colleagues.
In a conversation with reporters at the end of October 2024, Hong Nhung revealed that over the past year, she had moved back to Vietnam from France. Her two children Tôm and Tép also moved to Ho Chi Minh City to study at an international school.
Upon returning to Vietnam, she was closer to her father, but when she invited him to live together, he refused.
"I invited him many times but he refused to live with me and the kids. He only wanted to stay in the same building but not in the same house, so I asked someone to come and stay with him at night and provide support because I was afraid something might happen at night," she recalled.
Hong Nhung's father is Le Van Vien, a translator born in 1940, who is very passionate about literature. At the age of 80, he translated the short story collection "Những trái quýt" and later released the 1,000-page novel "Những kẻ phiêu lưu."
Her parents separated when she was 2 years old, and her father adopted her. Despite the family breakdown, the diva received a lot of love and meticulous guidance from her father.
"Before, my father assigned me tasks like going to the market, cooking, doing laundry, cleaning the house before I could go sing. Sometimes, I would get punished for sneaking off to perform or coming home half an hour late," she shared.
Because of this, Hong Nhung has a lot of affection for her father. She even wrote Vietnamese lyrics for the song "Papa" dedicated to her father.

Few know that out of friendship with translator Le Van Vien, musician Trinh Cong Son not only supported singer Hong Nhung when she started her career in Ho Chi Minh City but also wrote three songs for her.
These include: "Bống bồng ơi" in 1993, "Bống không là Bống" in 1995, and "Thuở Bống là người" in 1998.
In 2023, Hong Nhung participated in "Chị đẹp đạp gió," and her father was continuously hospitalized due to old age and weakening health, suffering from heart and lung-related illnesses. Currently, her father's health has stabilized, and he has a caregiver to take care of him and maintain the house.
