On February 3, the Asian entertainment industry was shocked by the sudden death of actress Tieu Hy Vien while on vacation with her family in Japan. The family of the 49-year-old star revealed that she had contracted the flu and developed complications of pneumonia.
Upon hearing the news of Tieu Hy Vien's passing, her ex-husband - businessman Uong Tieu Phi - along with his current wife and mother hurriedly flew to Taiwan. They were previously on vacation in Thailand.

Appearing before reporters, Uong Tieu Phi had a sorrowful expression, swollen eyes, and he bowed and expressed gratitude at the airport. The businessman hoped that the media would not write negative information about his ex-wife.
Prior to arriving at the airport, Uong Tieu Phi changed his profile picture to a black image on social media, signaling a sad event in the family. However, he later changed his profile picture again, leaving the public puzzled.
In the years after their divorce, Tieu Hy Vien had often revealed their unhappy marriage, with many sorrows between her and Uong Tieu Phi. The actress accused her ex-husband of having affairs multiple times, even hitting her when she was pregnant.
Uong Tieu Phi and Tieu Hy Vien were married for 10 years, with two children together. At the end of 2021, the couple completed their divorce proceedings, and Tieu Hy Vien won custody of the children, receiving alimony from her ex-husband.

However, in the past two years, Tieu Hy Vien and Uong Tieu Phi continuously brought each other to court to settle property disputes, custody rights, and post-divorce alimony. Many lawsuits between the two parties are still pending as Tieu Hy Vien's sudden death occurred.
It is reported that Uong Tieu Phi is in Taiwan to attend the funeral, settle post-divorce lawsuits with Tieu Hy Vien, and especially to resolve issues regarding custody rights and inheriting her estate after her sudden passing.
Not only Uong Tieu Phi but also DJ Koo Jun Yup (Tieu Hy Vien's current husband) has received public attention in the past day. On the evening of February 3, the singer shared with the South Korean media: "I am really not okay" when talking about the sudden departure of his wife.
According to Chinese media, Koo Jun Yup was reportedly on a trip to Japan with Tieu Hy Vien and their two children. However, according to a source from 163, the South Korean DJ was not in Japan in recent days. Koo Jun Yup is in Taiwan for work.

Late on February 3, Chinese media revealed that Koo Jun Yup is believed to be unreachable. The South Korean singer did not answer any calls from family or friends. The sudden event has left Koo Jun Yup devastated and grieving.
"He is in Taiwan but in an unreachable state. We really don't know where he is. In Taiwan, Tieu Hy Vien was his only support. We and Tieu Hy Vien's relatives went to his house to find him but he was not there," a friend of the couple said.
Tieu Hy Vien and DJ Koo were in a relationship since 1998. However, they later broke up. During those years, Tieu Hy Vien got married while Koo Jun Yup remained single for many years.
In 2022, they rekindled their relationship after almost 24 years, when Tieu Hy Vien announced her divorce from businessman Uong Tieu Phi.
The actress from "Meteor Garden" and Koo Jun Yup got married in March 2022. Becoming Tieu Hy Vien's husband boosted Jun Yup's entertainment career, and he was invited to many events and entertainment programs in Taiwan.
It is known that Tieu Hy Vien and Koo Jun Yup signed a prenuptial agreement. They agreed on 3 "no's": no grand wedding, no children, and Koo Jun Yup would not be involved in Tieu Hy Vien's assets.
According to Sohu, under the current circumstances, if Tieu Hy Vien does not have a will, all her assets will go to her two children, and Koo Jun Yup will lose his right to inherit his wife's estate. Most of Tieu Hy Vien's assets were accumulated before remarrying.
Currently, Tieu Hy Vien's remains are being cremated in Japan before being brought back to Taiwan for the funeral. The actress's family has not announced plans for the funeral of the short-lived star.
