In an interview with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Eric V. Yon, President of the competition, affirmed: "We are not just a beauty pageant. This is a place for everyone to express themselves, break free from all imposed thinking, and pursue their dreams without being discriminated against or limited by gender stereotypes."
The Miss and Mister Majestic Cambodia 2025 competition has a slogan: "Humanity - society - diversity. Beyond colorful."
The competition declares that it will create a playground that breaks traditional boundaries by combining Miss, Mister, and Miss Trans (Beauty Queen, Mister, and Transgender Beauty Queen) on the same stage.
Evaluation criteria for contestants in the competition
Mr. Eric V. Yon shared that the competition is not simply looking for beautiful faces but values factors like intelligence, smartness, charisma, and leadership ability.
According to him, the Mr. Majestic Cambodia 2025 category specifically, and the Miss and Mister Majestic Cambodia 2025 competition in general, are looking for contestants who are not only good-looking but also intelligent, attractive, and have leadership qualities.
To ensure diversity and fairness, the organizing committee has selected the strongest candidates, who are intelligent and courageous enough to perform the tasks of the competition well.
"We are not only selecting beautiful contestants but also individuals who can inspire others, representing the values that the competition aims for," said Mr. Eric V. Yon.
Furthermore, to choose the overall winner, the organizing committee applies strict criteria, including leadership ability, charisma, and intelligence.
When asked by Dan Tri reporter which factor is more important among appearance, intelligence, or performance ability, Mr. Eric V. Yon emphasized: "Intelligence is more important than appearance."
Reactions to controversies
In addition to the appearance of the contestants, the factor that has attracted high levels of discussion from the public in this competition is the costumes. Some designs have been criticized as too provocative, even offensive, overshadowing the cultural values of East Asia.
In response to various opinions, Mr. Eric V. Yon said: "We are ready to face opposing opinions. Instead of reacting negatively, we encourage contestants to remain calm, respect all viewpoints, and demonstrate their value through confidence and maturity."
In addition, the body shape segment with the "fancy" theme also faced mixed opinions from a portion of the audience regarding height and physique. Furthermore, the posing and demeanor in front of the camera of the contestants were also judged by the online community as unprofessional.
Regarding this issue, the Miss and Mister Cambodia organizing committee reaffirmed that this is an important part of the competition to evaluate the confidence, style, and physique of the contestants, in line with the general standards of international beauty pageants.
Not stopping at the national level, the Miss and Mister Cambodia 2025 competition also aims to promote the image of Cambodia to the world.
The organizing committee shared: "We are not only organizing a competition but will also host the Miss Mister & Majestic International 2025 (International Beauty Queen and Transgender Beauty Queen 2025), taking place from September 26 to October 4 in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap - Angkor Wat."
