Sharing with reporters from Dan Tri, artist Vu Thanh said that his wife is in critical condition and facing serious health complications, leaving the family almost desperate.
According to artist Vu Thanh, his wife has been suffering from severe joint degeneration for many years. One time, she fell leading to a worsening condition, followed by a stroke. Since then, her health has been deteriorating, affecting the liver, lungs, and other vital organs.
Doctors diagnosed her with pneumonia, hepatitis, intestinal infection, urinary tract infection, and brain edema.
About a month ago, doctors performed brain surgery on singer Le Hai. After the surgery, she was slightly conscious, but her condition did not improve.
From October 2024 until now, she has been hospitalized for treatment, but her condition is getting worse. Currently, she is being cared for at the Functional Rehabilitation Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. According to artist Vu Thanh, even though she is being closely monitored by a team of doctors, it is difficult for his wife to recover.
"My wife has many diseases, all vital organs are affected. Doctors have advised the family to prepare mentally for the worst-case scenario. If she is lucky to survive the critical condition, she will not fully recover, and may not live for much longer," he choked up sharing.
Currently, singer Le Hai is still in a coma, only able to eat through a feeding tube. Occasionally, she has seizures, sometimes conscious, sometimes not recognizing her husband.
For the past 5 months, artist Vu Thanh has been staying at the hospital to take care of his wife. Every day, he goes in and out of the hospital twice. As the family is just a couple, he has to hire someone to help.
The treatment cost for singer Le Hai has now exceeded 300 million VND. Thanks to the support of colleagues and relatives, he has received about 200 million VND to cover the hospital expenses. However, the family's finances are almost depleted.
"While there is still hope, my family is trying to hold on for another month. If her health does not improve positively, we will have to bring her home because there is no other way," he confided.

Artist Vu Thanh was born in 1959 in Ho Chi Minh City, a versatile artist in the theater, taking on various roles from director, stage actor, comedian, singer, to magician.
Despite dedicating himself to the arts, he has not had much luck in his career. At the age of 70, he still struggles to make a living, bearing the family's financial burden.
In recent years, the male artist opened a bun noodle shop to earn extra income. He does not hesitate to roll up his sleeves, selling noodles to support his life.
Artist Vu Thanh and singer Le Hai have been together for over 40 years. They have a son nearly 40 years old. In addition, he also has a 30-year-old son living in Hue.
In a conversation with reporters from Dan Tri in 2023, the artist once confided that after the mistakes of youth, he realized the value of family happiness. In the past, he made mistakes by leaving home for a lover, but it was singer Le Hai's forgiveness that helped him return and cherish this marriage.
"Le Hai is a woman who knows how to take care of life, always meticulous about food, clothing. In the past 4-5 years, despite facing many difficulties, my wife and I have shared the suffering, sometimes just eating boiled vegetables with soy sauce and felt pleased," he revealed.
In his twilight years, the artist and his wife face another pain as their son falls into gambling, betting on football, putting the family in a dire situation. For years, the couple has endured to pay off debts for their son, assets one after another "going away".
Despite difficulties, Vu Thanh said that he has never liked to complain about poverty, tell stories to gain pity from others. Amidst all the difficulties, the greatest comfort for him now is his 10-year-old grandson, cute, intelligent, and understanding.
