On the evening of April 16, Doan Quoc Dam officially spoke out after being "called out" for appearing in a commercial video for Cilonmum milk of Rance Pharma International Pharmaceutical Company - one of the units that has been recently prosecuted for the production of more than 500 fake milk products.
In the article, Doan Quoc Dam apologized to consumers, those who have suffered losses and been affected by unintentionally watching a video advertisement with his appearance.
"Unintentionally, but as the person appearing in the video, I understand my responsibility in transparency in this matter," Doan Quoc Dam wrote.
The actor said that the commercial video was filmed 2 years ago, inspired by the character Thanh in the movie My Happy Family Unexpectedly (aired in 2023).
"The woman mentioned as Ha is the wife of the character I played and the boy is the child actor who played my son in the movie - not my biological son. All the relationships in the video are fictional to serve the advertising script. At that time, the brand created the advertising idea inspired by the positive effects of the film," he explained.
The actor added that he has a clear principle of not using his personal life images for advertising purposes to make money. According to the signed contract, the duration of using his image is only 1 month.
However, the video continued to appear online after that period without his permission, which is a breach of contract.
According to Doan Quoc Dam, before accepting the advertising offer, he was provided with all the legal documents by the brand including: Product quality certification, product announcement and advertisement issued by authorized agencies.
The actor born in 1988 added that in the commercial video, he did not have any words of promotion or call for people to buy and use the product. If there is such content in the script, he would have refused from the beginning.
Previously, in the advertising video for the Cilonmum Colos IQ Grow 24h milk brand for children aged 1-15 of Rance Pharma, actor Doan Quoc Dam shared that he and his wife had "researched very carefully" before giving it to their child.
The actor said that during the research, this was the leading milk brand, with many parents giving positive feedback on the milk.
Also, according to Doan Quoc Dam, what impressed him was that the milk production factory was FDA certified in the USA for safe production, achieving many achievements such as superior manufacturing technology, advanced production processes and the application of the latest innovations in technology and science.
Furthermore, in the advertising clip, Doan Quoc Dam emphasized that this milk series supplements breakthrough ingredients such as: Colostrum, 2'FL HMO (immune enhancement, intestinal protection), Aquamin F (organic calcium) and combines with various kinds of nuts such as walnuts, almonds, and bird's nest extract.
"After a period of using the milk for my child, both my wife and I were surprised to see our child more focused during studying or doing anything. The child is healthy, nimble, and especially 3cm taller... I have recommended it to many friends and colleagues to let their children try it, and no one has complained," Doan Quoc Dam asserted in the video.
