Nguyen Van Chung explained that when composing the song "Continuing the story of peace", he always hoped for a connection between the past and the present.
"Our fathers dedicated their youth, ready to sacrifice even when uncertain about which day the country will achieve peace. This makes their sacrifices even more noble and great.
Therefore, I used the word "future" to show the uncertainty rather than "present". Just like our parents often say "back in the day, your mother worked hard, lived frugally so that you children have food and clothing in the future," he analyzed.
Thus, he used the word "future" with the "s" sound to give the singer room to breathe, handling the lyrics softly and deeply.
In addition, musician Nguyen Van Chung also explained the phrase "amidst the smoke of war". The phrase was taken from "the smoke of war and swords", symbolizing the patriotic tradition of both soldiers in wartime and peacetime.
Since the song does not have much space, he preferred to choose the most symbolic phrase to write.
Speaking to reporters from Dan Tri, musician Nguyen Van Chung stated that by the evening of May 8, the song "Continuing the story of peace" had reached over 4 billion views on various platforms.
The male singer said that he wrote the lyrics and melody from 11 pm to 3 am the next morning. Two weeks prior, he had been contemplating and thinking deeply about the lyrics of the song.
"In the past, I had a close friend of my mother who taught literature, she was very good at teaching and laid the foundation for me to use Vietnamese grammar such as metaphors, personification...

During the recent April 30th celebration, "Continuing the story of peace" was remixed by TikTok users into an energetic electronic music version, used in thousands of patriotic-themed videos.
The 45-second remix was selected as the background music for the multi-platform campaign "Peace is very beautiful," which has received positive responses and usage from many young people.
Musician Nguyen Van Chung also decided to allow music teachers and musicians to use "Continuing the story of peace" for online teaching on various platforms, free of copyright.
